The class that become my gateway into the field of communication studies was an interpersonal communication class I took at a community college. I came out of that course with such a greater understanding of myself and others that I decided to change my major from English to Communication and spend my life learning and understanding how to build better relationships with others and ourselves through how we communicate.

Below are some of the works I’ve created in the fields of interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships.

Dating and Relationship Building

Building Romantic Relationships Through Uncertainty Reduction Theory [PDF]

In this work I investigate and apply Berger and Calabrese’s (1975) seminal work on uncertainty reduction to the early stages of dating. I present how we can use our human impulse to make sense of things and people to build stronger relationships.

Research Proposal: Online Dating Behaviors of Persons With Social Anxiety [PDF]

Dating apps have opened up new opportunities for people with social anxiety to meet and talk to new people. Do people with social anxiety use these apps differently compared to their non-anxious peers and do their anxiety levels regarding dating change over time using these apps? I’m curious to find out.

Long Term Romantic Relationships

Relationship Maintenance in Married and Long-Term Relationships [PDF]

“How do I rekindle my relationship?” and “How do I keep the fire going?” are two of the biggest questions the average Mary or Joe tend to ask about relationships. In this work I propose a couple of strategies to keep things fresh.

Self/Intrapersonal

The Bodhisattva: An Ethical Life Being Lived for the Benefit of All Sentient Beings [PDF]

Ethics is a big topic in the field of communication because the process of communication is the shared creation and cultivation of realities. Therefore it is crucial for professional communicators to understand what ethical communication is from both professional and personal perspectives. In this work, I articulate, defend, and critique my own moral and ethical framework.
